Confession time….I discovered Beautycounter completely on a whim. I had never heard of it, I didn’t know anybody who used it, had never seen anyone post about it and I for sure didn’t know anybody who was a consultant. But I stumbled upon an honest review from a fellow blogger, Iowa Girl Eats one day. She posted a non-sponsored review (you can read it here) which made me intrigued. She too, was pregnant at the time and mentioned some of the same skin concerns I had (discoloration, moisture, etc.) So I did my research on this Beautycounter brand and found that the products were safe to use while pregnant. Which you may or may not know, can be hard to come by.
I decided to give the Rejuvenating Radiance Serum a try along with a nude lip sheer and some concealer. With a 60 day money back guarantee I thought what have I got to lose, right? Well it turned out I didn’t need to worry about returning anything as I LOVED the products. The results and quality of the products are reason enough to give Beautycounter a try. What made me the most happy was that everything was safe to use while pregnant. Beautycounter does an amazing job testing and formulating their products to be safe and to be void of unnecessary and harmful chemicals yet they are still effective and high quality.
It goes without saying that my health is very important to me but it’s also important that I avoid chemicals that are known to cause future harm down the road for me or my family. Beautycounter bans over 1,400 chemicals in their products making them so much safer than your standard skincare line or makeup counter products.
Fast forward a few months and I decided to sign-up and become a consultant. (purely for the discount mind you!) After signing up I received a ton of guidance and knowledge on the products and the business aspect and what do you know…I LOVE it! I thoroughly enjoy chatting with friends and family about Beautycounter and the products. It comes up so naturally and organically in conversation that I never feel weird when someone asks about it – they’re genuinely curious. And I love that!
Not sure where to get started or what to try? Here are a few of my faves:
Rejuvenating Radiance Serum
This is what got me hooked on Beautycounter in the first place. It absorbs easily which makes it easy to apply right before moisturizing. In my case, it’s really been a great, safe replacement for prescription retinol without the irritated skin and having to avoid sun exposure. Not to mention that this is safe to use while pregnant:)
No. 1 Brightening Facial Oil
I’ll admit, the thought of voluntarily applying oil to my skin scared me. I always assumed that my occasional breakouts were a result of oil or build-up on my skin. But this oil gets rave reviews and is consistently a top seller so I gave it a try and I’m SO glad I did. Within the first few days I had noticeably softer skin and better skin tone.
I’m not much of a lipstick gal but I’m also not a huge shiny lipgloss person either. Beautycounter’s Sheer Lipstick is the perfect in-between for someone like me. The sheer lipstick goes on smooth and gives you just enough color to brightening up your lips but goes on smooth like a gloss. My favorite color for a natural look is Terra or Petal
Charcoal Cleansing Bar
Oh man this is the cleaning bar that leaves nothing behind! With charcoal in the name you know it’ll be good at getting dirt and grime off your face. Full disclosure – I use this bar once, maybe twice a week as it can leave my skin a little dry. So this bar will last you a long time if you only use for a good, deep down cleaning a few times a week like me.
Countersun Sunscreen – Lotion, Mist & Stick
Countersun is a fantastic mineral sunscreen. It uses Zinc Oxide which actually sits on your skin rather than absorbed into it. I have found that this type of formulation of sunscreen keeps me from breaking out. Perfect for sensitive skin for yourself or the kids (Sammie uses it every time we head outside to play) It also protects against UVA, UBV and blue light (think cell phone light…yeah that’s a thing that’s harmful. I was surprised too!)
